Woman arrested after wrong way crash in Newton County

The crash happened Sunday morning on I-65 near the 240 mile marker.

It happened early sunday morning on i-65 near the 240 mile-marker near the lowell exit.

The driver was heading northbound in the southbound lanes of i-65.

This caused a vehicle to drive off th roadway to avoid a head-on collision, rolling over into a ditch.

Two other vehicles crashed into a center median as well.

The wrong-way vehicle eventually lost its front left tire and police were able to arrest the suspect.

The 19-year-old driver failed a sobriety test and was booked into the newton county jail for preliminary charges, including operating while intoxicated and illegal consumption, both misdemeanors.
