With many businesses still closed because of the pandemic, many graduates are having a hard time finding a job.

Wtva's sydney darden spoke with on e student about how she is staying strong through her job search.

Sot christina moffett, msu graduate- "it was extremely hard" for christina moffett the road to graduation was filled with challenges.

Sot- christina moffett- "it made it, i'm not gonna say 10 times.

I'm gonna say 5 times harder."

First, the challenge of wading through biomedical engineering.

Sot- christina moffett -"a lot of us have been in school for a while.

A lot of engineering majors have been in school 5 to 6 years, not just the traditional 4."

Then having to do it all through a national health crisis.

Sot- christina moffett -"especially with the covid-19.

With engineering since it's so hard and difficult you really lean on your peers most of the time and help you understand most of the senior core curriculum.

But after graduating in may, moffett now faces her biggest obstacle yet: finding a job during one of the nation's worst economic crises.

Sot- "it's really discouraging right now considering how covid has shut down your main revenues of receiving a job."

According to the buerau of labor the nation's unemployment rate jumped to 14.7% in may after the coronavirus forced many businesses to close their doors.

Another 1.8 million americans filed for unemployment in just the last week.

With many companies still on a hiring freeze due to the pandemic, moffett and thousands of other graduates are now competing for the few spots that are still hiring.

Sot "it's mostly send a resume in and hopefully you get picked from the thousands of other resumes."

But through the countless hours editing her cover letters moffet is staying strong.

Sot- christina moffett- " yeah this is different, definitely different but i'm up for any challenge.

" according to economy experts the job market is bound to get worse before it gets better.

A report from cnn says that the unemployment rate could rise to 20% in the next month.

That would put unemployment numbers in the same territory as the great depression, when the unemployment rate peaked at an estimated 24.9% farmers are doing what
