Law Enforcement training to prevent tragedy
Dodge County Sheriff's reaction

As they make a decision.

In response to the death of george floyd while in police custody ?

"* we're hearing froma local sheriff on the incident.

Kimt news 3's annalise johnson is speaking to the dodge county sheriff on what he calls a "tragic indeicent that tears apart families and divides communities."

Annalise joins us tonight live in downtown rochester.

Live yeah katie ?

"* i'm here at protests happening right now at the olmsted county government center... describe what i'm seeing now... clearly people in the community are upset after this tragedy ?

"* ad today i spoke to dodge county sheriff scott rose who tells me he is also sad ?

"* shocked*- frustrated ?

"* and angry.

Sheriff rose shared this post publicly on facebook following the death of george floyd while in minneapolis police department's custody... he says the actions of the involved officers do not reflect the majority of law enforcement officers he knows... sheriff rose tells me it all comes down to training ?

"* and he tries to equip his team with the skills they need to appropriately handle situations.

Just as law enforcement tells the public to see something ?

"* say something ?

"* he hopes his deputies would do the same if they witnessed unacceptable actions by a teammate.

One of the most important roles for me is to make sure that we're creating a culture or an environment within our law enforcement family that doesn't allow this, that makes our deputies comfortable in the fact that they need to call this out dodge county deputies are trained in de?

"* escalation ?

"* crisis intervention ?

"* and pressure control tactics.

Sheriff rose says a knee on the neck is not part of any training he does with his staff.

Live in rochester annalise johnson kimt thank you annalise.

Dodge county sheriff's office does not have body cameras because it is not affordable for a small agency to purchase and maintain them.

It does however have squad cameras in vehicles ?

"* and that audio and video is available if a deputy's behavior is questionable.
