Local veteran creates Memorial Day display

This year, southern and his - grandson set out to create a- - - - display in his front yard that- serves as a visual reminder - that freedom is never free.

Along with a display of flags - - - - and a re-creation of raising th- flag on iwo jima, neighbors and- the public have taken an- interest- - - - in the set up.- sot-ron southern- "my neighbor across the street, when i put the airman up and th- military members out- - - - here, she had to do a double- take, she thought there was - actually people - standing in front of my house i- the morning, so i had to explai- to her what it was."

With plans to expand the displa- and put it up for other - military-related holidays in th- future, the hope is that it - serves as a constant reminder o- service.
