Just a bit./// as we navigate this new phase of the pandemic?

And businesses start to reopen?

Governor tim walz is stressing the importance of practicing social distancing.

Kimt news three's raquel hellman is learning about a new study that shows social distancing really works.

Live she joins us now live in rochester to explain... raquel?xxx i am in downtown rochester?

And it is a whole lot busier than it was just less than a week ago?

As more businesses have reopened.

And as we venture out in areas like this it's essential that we continue to social distance.

Stay six feet apart from others.

Doctor gregory poland is an infectious diseases expert and head of mayo clinic's vaccine research group.

He talks about a study published in the journal of the american medical association.

It looked at counties in iowa and illinois that border each other and have very similar demographics.

Doctor poland says the findings of this study are a great example of the effectiveness of social distancing.xxx in illinois they had issued stay at home orders, in iowa they had not.

And they found thirty percent more cases in iowa where there had not been any stay at home orders.

Resarchers say the results of this study suggest that issuing a sta?

A?home order in iowa may have helped limit the spread of covi?19 cases there.

So now that the stay at home order has been lifted here in minnesota?

That really goes to show just how important it is that we still follow those social distancing measures as much as possible.

Live in rocheste?

Thanks raquel.

Doctor poland is also giving an update about clinical trials for vaccines for covi?19.

We'll have that story tonight on kimt news three at ten./// the minnesota department
