Governor andy besher announced 625-new cases of the coronavirus today.

That's the highest number of covid 19 cases in kentucky reported in a single day, since the outbreak began in march.

According to governor beshear..

309 of the 'new' cases are from the green river correctional complex in muhlenburg county.

According to the state, the total number of positive cases linked to the facility... now stands at 342 inmates and 57-staff members.

Two people from the prison, have died from the virus.

Four are now in the hosptial.

More than a thousand inmates and staff members were tested for covid-19 last week.

The state is now doing ongoing thermal gun thermometer temperature checks, and extra cleaning and sanitization at the facility.

And as we reported yesterday, inmates at the facility will soon be seperated into different units based on symptoms. 1:11:10 "those that are in it, most of them are seving some pretty significant sentences, and when you start moving people out of cells where they get along with their cell mate into totally differnt environments, it can be a little dangerous.

1:11:22 but we've got to go ahead and take that step 1:11:26 to protect those that are inside."

Governor beshaer also anounced 14- new deaths today.

According to beshear..

275 people have now died from the virus in the commonwealth.

The total number of positve cases in the state is now 5,822.

And according to the state journal... that includes a teenager in franklin county.

The health department says it's the first case in franklin county related to another confirmed case and this is first case of covid-19 in a child in the county.
