Cinco De Mayo is normally a day that fills restaurants around the area.

But restaurant owners were in a much different situation.

Day of celebration.

Bars and restaurants are usually busy, but now people are forced to celebrate at home!

Newschannel 2's brent kearney joins us live from luna's on varick street!

Kristen this is luna's first cinco de mayo because they only opened last august, but the owner says the phones have been ringing off the hook.

"nats" inside luna's the dining room is empty, but the phones are contstantly "ring" ringing, "ring, luna" .

None .

None "it's a lot different like a lot different.

It said to see how empty it is in here but but we've had a lot of support through the community and we've been busy."

Varick street remains a ghost town.

Surrounding bars and restaurants have been closed for weeks.

Anastasia says this is foot traffic that's a necessity for her business.

I feel bad all of our employees, we only have two employees because we just can't there's nothing for them to do.

In terms of reopening, anastasia is looking forward to the day when she can reopen.

And says she's willing to take every precaution in order to do so.

"that would be great even if we had to seat every other table, take the stools away from the bar.

We are going to do whatever we can.

We have a huge outdoor area where we can seat people so that would be great."

And when this is all over, they're planning quite the party and inviting the surrounding bars to take part as well.

"oh yea its going to be a week long celebration.

And we are going to see if we can get some of the other bars to get on board too.

We kind of missed out on st patrick's day so we will do a whole party week."

> sounds like it will be quite party.

But if you're looking to get cinco de mayo takeout tonight, luna's as well as the other surrounding restaurants are continuing to take orders.

Rio grande however has reached its max and stopped taking orders this morning.

But i imagine these restaurants phones will be very busy f the rest ofthe n.
