This is the moment police raided a house party allegedly flouting coronavirus restrictions with two Thai sex workers hired to entertain tourists stuck in the country during the lockdown.

Officers acted after neighbours complained about the noise and loud music coming from the house after the 10pm curfew in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand on Tuesday night (April 28).

At least six cops swooped on the building where they found two attractive Thai escorts in their 20s drinking with a Thai man and his two Singaporean friends.

The group were arrested for allegedly breaking an Emergency Decree imposed to stop the spread of COVID-19, which bans gathering of people and enforces a strict 10pm curfew.

The Thai resident Weerin Funweera, 29, reportedly said that he was hosting a party for her Singaporean friends Chew Rong Min, 38, and Seow Wei Tat, 28.

He said he had hired two Thai escorts, Suthinee Korrom, 26, and Jing Nailing, 21 to entertain his friends, who were stuck in the country during the coronavirus lockdown which has caused flights to be cancelled.

Police confiscated several bottles of liquor from the house and brought the five suspects to have their body temperature checked at the police station for signs of the virus.

Police Colonel Phuwanat Duangdee said: "The suspects showed no sign of sickness so it was not necessary to take them to the hospital.

"However, they will be charged for congregating in a closed space during the night time, an offence which is violation of the State of Emergency Act that the government ordered to prevent the virus from spreading."
