3 hundreds of cars lined up and circled around this church parking lot here waiting to pick up mac packages and meals for their children.

Now each pick up location had a package of five breakfast meals and five lunch meals hoping to serve about 1000 childrennats one by one boxes of food or handed out to parents for their children."thousands of meals went out in the past hour just right here " alex lazard the administrative pastor at destiny of faith 3 church was one of the volunteers handing out the meals."right now people need help they need encouragement they need to know the're not in it by themselves.they need to know i's ok to reach out for help.

What i love about the line today is the line was't block it was't white it was't mexican it was everybody coming together to help each other and to receive."lazard says these school meals are so important right now on making sure the kids have the meals they need.

"ther's a lot of kids that rely on free or reduced lunch that get three meals because two of them are coming from school.."and the parents could be more grateful.

"when my kids are at home they only want to eat all the time really nice to have it not have to get out""my kids are very grateful in the meals are awesome too!"in the line was also neighbors helping neighbors out.

"they do't have a car they ca't get around they did't know anything about it.

And when i deliver them there is the next-door neighbor has four kids and they did't know anything about it either... 'm here again to pick them up to bring them to them i's very important.

"in each box was a variety of meals.

Steak asparagus chicken tenders chicken tenders hamburger carrots fruit milk and even cookies."the lunches are frozen so that way they can last so you can just pop in the microwave and the're ready"lazard says these meals will make these kids even stronger.

"lafayette strong as what we say and just like any other disaster we come together and we help our brothers and sisters and tha's the silver lining always i's always gonna be like that and acadiana it will forever stay."

The group hoped to give meals to more than 5,000 kids across the area.

Food banks have been tasked with feeding thousands more folks who have lost jobs due to covid-19
