story on the notices

Mandate to not hold in person services on easter sunday, some churches decided to hold them anyway.

In bullitt county, church-goers left the service only to find a notice on their vehicles... saying their license plates had been recorded and reported.

Rose mcbride has the story.

L3: coronavirus in kentucky white church holds in-person service easter sunday bullitt county shortly after the service started at maryville baptists church kentucky state police put notices on people's cars saying their license plate has been recorded.

Vo governor andy beshear followed through on a promise he made friday - there will be consequences for people who attend in person easter services.

"understand that this is the only way that we can ensure that your decision doesn't kill somebody else."

Two state troopers placed this notice on the windshields of people inside maryville baptist church - saying - "employees of the local heath department will be contacting those associated with this vehicle with self-quarantine documents, including an agreement requiring this vehicle's occupants and anyone in the household to self-quarantine for 14 days."

That message didn't seem to bother rev.

Jack roberts.

"i took a picture of my license plate on the back of my car and sent it to the governor yesterday."

The service was also streamed on facebook and broadcast with a speaker for people in their cars in the parking lot.

Maryville wasn't the only church that went against government recommendations.

Last week louisville mayor greg fischer advised people against going to drive in church services.

On fire christian church filed and was granted a temporary restraining order against the mayor, saying he was violating their religious freedom.

Fischer said he never banned drive-in services, saying he would have explained that if the judge allowed him to.

"we attempted twice to contact the courts so that we could have presented the case and that would have obviated the need for this restraining order."

Cars at on fire christian church did appear to follow cdc recommendations, lining up six feet apart, with windows no more than halfway down.
