jobless numbers

U-s has reached a grim landmark because of the coronavirus pandemic.

More than six million people applied for unemployment benefits last week... according to the u.s. department of labor.

Of that number... more than 117- thousand were kentuckians.

The department is reporting more than 16 million workers.... about one in 10.... lost their job in the past three weeks.

President donald trump requested $250 billion for the program....which gives direct subsidies to companies to keep employees on payroll.

However... democrats say they want to see protections for minority-owned businesses as well as matching money for health care providers and state and local governments before signing off on the legislation.

Both sides do agree the legislation is urgently needed and it is expected to pass.
