Have died.

Families of residents at the washington nursing center were notified this weekend that their loved ones would be moved to another facility.

We're told this decision was made to accommodate covid-19 patients at the facility.

That has caused a lot of concern in the small community.

We've been working all weekend to get more information about what's going on.

News 10 bureau chief gary brian spoke with a representative of the company that owns the washington nursing center.

He has new informaton for you tonight.

"sunday evening folks lined business 50 here in washington to protest the situation at washington nursing center.

All day we've been working to try to figure out what's going on, here's what we've got."

Protestors were concerned about loved ones who will soon be moved from the faiclity.

They also expressed concern about the employees who currently work at the nursing home.

This evening i spoke with eric ahlbrand...he's the regional director of operations for chosen care.

That's the company that runs the washington nursing center.

He told me the move comes from recommendations from the centers for medicare and medicaid services.

Ahlbrand explained that those pateints who don't have the disease in washington will be moved to locations in vincennes, hanover, and fowler indiana.

The organization has fourteen buildings across the state of indiana.

Ahlbrand says the fear is if covid-19 pateints stay in individual facilities the disease could spread throughout.

Patients who have mild symptoms of covid-19 at those 14 buildings will be moved to the washington facility.

This will allow for the company to bring all of it's treatment materials, like ppe, to one location.

Ahlbrand says this move is the safest thing for residents and staff.

Lastely ahlbrand says that staff are not losing their jobs.

"of course we'll continue following this story as it develops.

In washington, gary brian news 10."

In illinois... governor j-b
