Seals gather on Horsey Beach for annual moult

Around 2,500 Atlantic grey seals gather on Horsey Beach in Norfolk, where they come every year to moult their worn-out fur and grow sleek new coats.

The essential lifecycle event takes about six weeks and the seals huddle together in large groups to conserve their energy.

They need to stay out of the sea to minimise heat loss while their new fur grows.
