A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died in Swansea on Saturday morning (October 22). Police were called to an address in Idris Terrace in the Plasmarl area of the city at 6am on Saturday and a number of officers have remained on-scene since.The area surrounding the property in question has been sealed off by officers and the arrested man, a local man aged 35, is currently being held at Swansea Central Police Station.Officers have confirmed the woman that died was 45-years-old. It's understood the victim and the suspect were known to each other.In a statement, South Wales Police Swansea and Neath Port Talbot said: "We are investigating the death of a 45-year-old woman from the Plasmarl area. Police were called to an address in Idris Terrace at 6am this morning."A 35-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of her murder. He is currently being held at Swansea Central Police Station. It is believed those involved are known to each other."The area will remain sealed off with an increased police presence while investigations continue. A major incident room has been set up at Cockett Police Station."Detective Superintendent Darren George, from the forces Major Crime Investigation Team, added: "We appreciate the support of the local community as we continue this investigation, and I would like to reassure them that at this time we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this death."Anyone who has information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting occurence number 2200 357 888
