Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve seen time and time again how people use technology to connect, and that this need is higher than ever. Vulnerable populations - such as the homeless and the elderly - have a bigger need than ever. The Laptops for the Homeless and Vulnerable Initiative has bridged the gap between these populations and communication, careers, and education as part of our ongoing cause, but now, we’re serving increasing needs due to the pandemic.

Recently, the Laptops for Homeless and Vulnerable initiative was featured in an episode of Rooftop TV, an online channel dedicated to covering good news sponsored by profits from a UK PR agency member of Public Relations and Communications Association - PRCA.

PRCA is also running an appeal with SocialBox.Biz where PR firms are urged to donate un-used IT to help vulnerable

Simon Francis, Chair of PRCA and Founder Member of Campaign Collective, said:

“PR and communications firms are sat on old and un-used IT. This is a perfect opportunity to help those whose isolation is increased because of the COVID-19 lockdown.

“I’d urge every firm to do a quick audit of what they don’t need and get in touch with Social Box.”

The team at Age UK London commented:

“The current situation is shedding light on the need for people to be connected and informed through the internet and being online is a lifeline now more than ever.”

Peter Paduh, Founder of SocialBox.Biz, said:

“With the country under lock down, many people who previously relied on human  contact are now left isolated. From older people in care homes to young refugees, hundreds of thousands are in need. “IT has never been more critical to our mental health and every firm can help plug the gap.”

Last month, SocialBox.Biz spoke at CBI’s Supporting Families in Hardship Group Talk to discuss how people can help refugees, the homeless, and the elderly during these trying times. SocialBox.Biz has a great number of amazing businesses on board, and is looking to add new sectors to their initiative.
