Police investigating a road traffic collision in Hamelin Way, Torquay, on Monday 6 September are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a stolen moped and a recovery vehicle at around 10.35pm.

The moped caught fire as a result of the collision.

A local man was taken to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries.

A number of people are believed to have left the scene following the collision.

Hamelin Way was closed for approximately three hours to allow for an examination of the scene and recovery of the vehicles, before being reopened at around 2.30am.
