At 7.15am on Saturday 1 August, Devon and Cornwall Police received a report of people being found in the back of a lorry at Millbay Docks, Plymouth.

Seven people, five adults and two teenagers, have been located in a Mesguen lorry trailer which is believed to have arrived at the Plymouth port yesterday.

The seven people have been detained, assessed by South West Ambulance Service staff, and their immediate welfare needs are being addressed.

Police are currently liaising with Border Force and the port authorities.

Initial enquiries would indicate the trailer arrived on a Brittany Ferries vessel from Roscoff on Friday 31 July.

All seven people have been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.
