Fatal collision, Newton Abbot

Police were called at around 11.00pm on Monday 27 July 2020 to the A380, South Devon Highway near Newton Abbot following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

Emergency services including numerous Ambulance units and the Air Ambulance attended the scene and despite their best efforts a 48-year-old local woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team along with other specialist colleagues undertook a full forensic examination of the scene and the road was closed for a number of hours as a result.

Investigating officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the woman travelling on foot in the area of St Luke’s road and Aller Brake road prior to the collision. 

Police would also like to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area at the time and may have relevant dash-cam footage.
