Warrants, West Cornwall
Devon & Cornwall Police made a number of arrests yesterday, Tuesday 28 April, as part of an operation tackling the sale of illegal Class A drugs in Cornwall.
Throughout the day officers conducted four warrants at addresses in West Cornwall, resulting in one suspect being charged.
In addition, officers travelled to the West Midlands and Staffordshire, where they were assisted with officers from those forces in securing two further arrests, and the subsequent charging, of suspects linked to the distribution of Class A drugs in Cornwall.
The operation, spanning several months, has been spearheaded by Cornwall’s Proactive Disruption Team.
As part of the investigation, around 1.5 kilos of suspected cocaine, with a street value of around £118,000, in addition to approximately £34,000 in cash, were seized in the run-up to yesterday’s warrants.
Jason Willis, 33, from Camborne, Kirk Hicken, 39, from Walsall and Anthony Latter, 34, from Litchfield were charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. Latter was also charged with possession of criminal property and Hicken was also charged with possession of a blade.
All three men are appearing at Bodmin Magistrates Court this morning.
Detective Chief Inspector Pete Found, said: “Although the need for social-distancing during the Covid-19 lockdown presents us with additional operational challenges, our fight against organised crime does not stop.
“Yesterday’s warrants are the culmination of months of hard work and represent a positive step in our ongoing crackdown on the illegal drugs trade into and throughout Cornwall.”
Detective Sergeant Allen Jordan, from the Proactive Team, added: “Our mission is to safeguard and protect our communities. Although we are down at the pointy end of the country, we have contacts in a large network of proactive teams throughout the UK and will travel where appropriate to ensure a collaborative approach is taken with our colleagues to combat these serious and organised crime groups.”
