Dozens of Israeli Druze crossed from the Golan Heights into Syria’s Sweida province amid escalating violence between Druze militias, Bedouin tribes, and Syrian government forces.
The move followed calls on social media urging Druze solidarity across borders.
In response to what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said was a Syrian plan to use weapons against the Druze, Israel launched airstrikes on Syrian military convoys, killing and wounding several personnel.
Syria condemned the strikes and accused Israel of causing civilian deaths.
Despite a declared ceasefire by Syria's defense minister, clashes continued, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported the execution of at least 19 Druze civilians.
