Anti-migrant operation in Mayotte: police intervene in the jungle

A group of CRS and RAID police officers are supporting local police officers who have been attacked by young people in the Mayotte island jungle after an identity check.

"We want people to protect us", said a resident of Tsoundzou, who said she felt "terror" and never imagined that she would experience clashes on such a scale.

The attacks came after Mayotte authorities launched Operation Wuambushu ("Take Back") to remove illegal migrants who have settled in slums on the island.
