Ambulance strike: No guarantee patients will reach hospital

Health minister Will Quince says he cannot guarantee that patients requiring a Category 2 ambulance response will be able to get to hospital during Wednesday’s ambulance strike.

Category 2 is an emergency response to a serious condition such as a stroke or chest pain.

However, Mr Quince adds: “I don’t think there is a paramedic or ambulance technician or anyone working in the NHS that wouldn’t want to respond, even from a picket line, to an emergency or life-threatening call.” Report by Jonesia.
