After conducting research, LUM found that food insecure people in West Lafayette did not have reliable access to a food distribution program.

Lum is partnering with the unitarian universalist church of tippecanoe county to create it after conducting research lum found that food insecure people in west lafayette didn't have reliable access to a food distribution program.

The program will be housed in the unitarian universalist church on the first floor.

Wes tillett the executive director of lum says while there are some food programs in west lafayette not all of them are open to anyone in the community.

"we noticed there were some programs that would help purdue students and faculty in particular and a number of churches have their own food pantrys but nothing that was as consistant as we wanted to see for every day people."

Lum will be hosting a food drive for the new program on april 14th and the 21st from 2-4 pm.

The drive will be at the unitarian universalist church.

The pantry in downtown lafayette will remain open even as this one opens up.
