The Coliseum Medical center placed flags on their front lawn representing the patients who had covid-19.

Areas factored into the decision to expanding eligibility, and he's encouraging everyone to get the vaccine.

More than 26-hundred people were hospitalized with covid-19 at coliseum medical centers over the past year, and more than 200 hundred died.

The hospital system held a ceremony today to honor those who battled the virus.

41nbc's lizbeth gutierrez was there and spoke with a survivor.

Kristi proulx (singing) :"like a bridge over troubled waters,i will ease your mind."

Shelly berryhill (covid-19 survivor) :"they kept me alive, i know that my wonderful result is not every patients result, but i do know that the staff here, gives it their all every time.

Sherry berryhill a covid-19 survivor says, he is grateful for all that the doctors at colesium health did to help keep him alive.

Stating that they have now become like family to him even though he may not know all of them personally.

Shelly berryhill (covid-19 survivor) :"i shouldn't be here today, but they fought hard against the unknown, they experimented, they doctored, they nursed, they did what it took and they left their families and put their own lives at risk."

Standup: each blue flag here, represents the survivors, while each white flag represents those who lost their battle to covid-19.

Kathey ramey (lost her husband to covid-19) :"they are ftighting for them, they are doing everything they can, they are giving it all they got, to get your loved one well, they did that for nbc news.
