Northwest Allen County Schools confirms 1st positive COVID-19 case for district

In a letter to families, Northwest Allen County Schools Superintendent Chris Himsel says the district had someone test positive Tuesday.

Northwest allen county schools tonight announced its first positive covid-19 case at one of its schools.

The announcement comes about a week after schools opened across the county.

County district was informed about the confirmed case today.

Lizette downey//nacs communicatioe just cer sent communication out to our parents and to our nacs family that we have indeed... unfortunately...crossed that threshold.ut in the future the district says it does not plan to alert parents who aren directly affected.

That the case as well for both fort wayne community schools and southwest allen county schools today both districts declined to say whether theye had any cases so far.

Fwcs says students or staff who need to be quarantined will receive specific instructions and that parents of students who might have had contact with someone who tested posiitive will get a letter but the district says it will won notifiy entire schools about positive tests nor will it identify those who test positive.

Southwest allen county schools says each situation is unique and they will continue to work with the allen county department of health to assess each case and determine what actions it will take.
