'It's like a crater...'

One woman explains her frustration with a pothole in a popular shopping area

Potholes are another issue we all encounter.

And some say the worst one is in a popular spot.

At 5 o'clock we told you the pothole near the south walmart on u-s 41 in terre haute is privately owned.

Now we find out what's being done to fix it.

News 10's ricahrd solomon did some digging today.

He shares more on what he found out.

Here at honey creek commons some say this pothole has been a nightmare for their cars for too long.

I spoke with the city street department who say this area and street is privately owned.

If you drive too fast.... "nats" it could cost you a tire..

"that pothole is huge" bonnie harris describes it as one of the worst potholes in terre haute.

And she says it's not getting any better.

"if you have to turn and get into that turn lane it takes half your car in the hole" she's not the only one we've heard from recently about this issue... "you're watching the traffic and then all of a sudden theres a hole.

It'll tear your car up eventually if you keep hitting them.

They do need fixed."

We heard your concerns and wanted to get some answers.

We reached out to the city of terre haute and indiana department of transportation.

They both said..

It wasn't their responsibility.

"indot" says..

It's up to the property owner.

We used an online property lookup tool to find out who owned it.

Each section is marked as a parcel.

This parcel being where the potholes are.

The information lists "ji jeannie revocable trust agreement" as the owner.

Now i did reach out to property owners but they gave me very little information.

They did tell me however that they've been trying to work on fixing these for a long time an it's an ongoing process.

Reporting in vigo county richard solomon news 10.

You can report potholes... for city streets in terre haute..

Use the 3-1-1 system online, or by calling.

And for state roads and u-s highways, you can let the "indiana department of transportation" know.
