Spring Cleaning During the Pandemic

Because of social distancing guidelines some changes had to be made to make sure this is all safe.

Coronavirus it is that time of year?

Time for spring cleaning.

And during this coronavirus pandemic?

There's even more of a focus on keeping our homes clean.

So should we be doing anything differently this time around?

Kimt news three's raquel hellman is finding out.

Live she joins us now live in rochester?

Raquel?xxx for many people?

A big part of spring cleaning is decluttering.

And that's exactly what's happening at this garage sale.

But?

Because of social distancing guidelines?

Some changes had to be made to make sure this is all safe.xxx "i'm moving now and i needed to get rid of all this stuff and i know a lot of places to donate aren't open."

So michelle hansen decided to hold this garage sale?

With extra safety precautions in place?

Like asking people to wear masks.

"probably 90% of the people that come here are wearing masks and all of us who are working it have been wearing masks and we've tried to set up our tables 6 feet apart, we have signs saying remember social distancing."

Standup: "ok so maybe you're not planning on having a garage sale this spring.

But you probably are planning on doing a little spring cleaning around your house?

Like i am.

So should we be doing anything differently this year because of the coronavirus."

Mayo clinic infectious disease expert doctor gregory poland says if no one in your household has been infected, standard cleaning practices will be fine.

But if someone in your house was sick or presumed infected?

It's important to take extra care when cleaning and disinfecting.

The key thing when we clean, when we disinfect a surface, is that we put gloves on, we don't mix chemicals and we use any of the standard ep?

Authorized disinfectants.

Or you can make your own with a 1/3 of a cup of bleach and a gallon of water."

He says it really all comes down to using common sense as we navigate this new normal.

"we're not trying to make people into germophobes as much as a clear recognition that there are particular times when you and your family and other people are at risk, such as influenza season, if we're going to have a recurrence of covi?19 in the winter, those are things that we're going to have to attend to."/// dr. poland says spring serves as a good reminder to change any air filters in your furnace or ducts.

Live in rocheste?

Raquel hellman kimt news 3 thanks raquel.

For those wanting to avoid harsh chemical cleaners or expensive products?

Dr. poland says soap and water is extremely effective.

We'll have more on that tonight on kimt news
