
Avoiding under delivery at all costs
Those who know me might describe me as a stickler for reliability. I certainly try to be both in myself and my expectations of others. It could be my upbringing or the career I forged but nothing irritates me more that people not delivering on promises. That could be timeliness, quality or just returning a phone call. And nothing stresses me more than worrying I might let a client down or miss a deadline. We often hear the phrase, ‘under promise, over deliver,’ but lately that’s been perceived as being the business equivalent of an own goal; promoting a lack of ambition.
