Viva il Papa! The view from St Peter’s Square

There was no room to kneel as the Roman crowds used to in St Peter’s Square when a new Pope gave his first blessing on the balcony. But we did get a papal blessing, chant the Hail Mary in Italian and it was the first time I have seen a pope cry – and he
