Police Constable Sentenced For On-Duty Assault

A West Yorkshire Police officer has been sentenced after being convicted of an on-duty assault on a member of the public.

PC Simon Hartley, 39, an officer based in Bradford district, was found guilty at trial at Bolton Magistrates Court on 21 December, 2023, of one charge of assault by beating.

He was ordered at Tameside Magistrates Court today (February 8) to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work and to pay £500 in compensation, £200 court costs and an £114 surcharge.
