Assault, East Looe

Police investigating an assault in East Looe on Saturday night [11 July] which left a man seriously injured are appealing for witnesses and CCTV footage.
Officers were called to Fore Street shortly before 11pm where the victim, aged in his 40s, had suffered a significant head injury.
He remains in a critical but stable condition at Derriford Hospital and his family has been made aware.
The incident is not linked to a separate serious assault which took place in West Looe in the early hours of 11 July.
Detective Inspector Daniel Massey said: “This is believed to have been a spontaneous and isolated incident between persons known to each other and I would like to praise the public assistance given in providing initial first-aid and helping officers with their enquiries so far, along with the quick-thinking and actions taken by police who attended.”
A 56-year-old man from Nuneaton has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. He has been released on police bail until 7 August.
