Boris Johnson voices support for transgender MP Jamie Wallis

Prime Minister Boris Johnson opened PMQs on March 30 with words of support for Jamie Wallis, MP for Bridgend, who came out as transgender hours earlier in an emotional social media post.

Wallis wrote on Twitter: "I'm trans.

Or to be more accurate, I want to be.

"I've been diagnosed with gender dysphoria and I've felt this way since I was a very young child." Addressing Wallis in Parliament, Boris Johnson said: "I know that the House stands with you and will give you the support that you need to live freely as yourself." Wallis is the first British MP to publicly identify as transgender.
