The special provisions for “significant social media intermediaries” compel the key social media platforms to appoint at least three officers for redressal of grievance and follow a specific code of conduct that has been criticised over violating the principles of free speech.
Social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google and YouTube have not yet complied with the new rules.
