Two cars made a giant wave as they drove towards each other on a flooded road following heavy rain in Indonesia.

Footage shows how the two ripples created from either vehicle slammed into each other – amplifying the wave which then smashed into a nearby shop like a mini tsunami.

Onlooker Fadzil Noor Hasibuan said he was feet were drenched by the unexpected road wave in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia on April 7.

He added: ‘Maybe the drivers tried to take a short cut and they didn’t know that this area is prone to flooding.’ Indonesia and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Thailand and Malaysia are approaching their tropical monsoon rainy season.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
