11pm Bourbon County Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 04.13.2021

IT'S AN EXCITING NIGHT FOR STUDENTS IN BOURBON COUNTY BECAUSE THEY JUST FOUND OUT THE HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND WILL PERFORM IN THE 2022 MACY'S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE.

It's an exciting night for students in bourbon county because they just found out the high school marching band will perform in the 2022 macy's thanksgiving day parade.

As abc 36's kaitlyn shive tells us...it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

### "nat sound cheering" that's the sound of pure excitement... the students in the bourbon county high school marching band thought they were getting together tuesday night for a meeting to find out the theme of their fall marching band show... but there was an even bigger surprise in store... "actually surprising the really talented students of bourbon county high school band that they have been selected to represent the state of kentucky and perform in new york city next year in the 2022 macys thanksgiving day parade" the band applied back in 2019 for the chance to perform in the holiday spectacle..

"we knew not only were they the kind of program that would represent kentucky beautifully but theyre also the kind of program that has a national reputation and we really look for those programs that excel" this will be the band's first time performing in the parade...and as band director michael stone expressed..this opportunity is something special.

"a lot of them probably would never travel to new york otherwise we come from a relatively low income community and so this is going to be something really special for these kids" he says they couldnt be more exicted to have been selected and that the work starts now.

"i just cant wait to see the kids faces when they finally like when we get there and they realize this is happening but there was just one more surprise in store for the band...invitations come out 18 months in advance to those selected in order to help give them enough time to fundraise for the trip.... but that'll be a little easier with a ten thousand dollar donation from macys.

Its way of saying "congratulations.."
