The Starkville hospital has made it possible for those stuck inside their homes to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

Wtva's rhea thornton is live in oktibbeha county where she spent the morning with emergency medical personnel administering the vaccine..

Today, och regional medical center made it possible for those stuck inside their homes to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

Administers shot ten people received their coronavirus vaccine inside their homes today... and starkville resident clara keel was one of them.

"i was hoping and praying that something like this would happen."

Keel is 83, and wasn't able to leave her home without the vaccine.

That's exactly what she did.

Keel received the johnson and johnson vaccine today.

I know i'm going to be okay."

One of the workers administering the vaccines was och ambulance service assistant manager, shedrick hogan.

(super) shedrick hogan - assistant manager of ambulance service at och: "we feel at the hospital that it's our duty as well as a privilege for us to help out our community and coming out and giving shots to those less fortunate."

Hogan and his partner showed up to the houses of those with appointments... administered the vaccine... and monitored the patient for fifteen minutes for symptoms... and then were on their way.

Although the patients receiving the shot may be homebound, hogan feels its still vital for them to receive their vaccine.

"they're still vulnerable to catch covid.

They still might have family members that come in and visit.

So, for us at the hospital, it's just imperative that we make sure everyone gets vaccinated in a timely manner to save them and to save their loved ones."

Hogan said they started vaccinations at 8 this morning and were going to go until around noon.
