Singer Kane Brown returned to Chattanooga today to help build a community Center with Lowe's, where he once worked.

A country music star is teaming up with lowe's to help renovate a special building.

News 12's joeli poole got an exclusive interview with our hometown hero, kane brown, in this story you'll see, only on 12.

Country music star, kane brown, is teaming up with lowe's to help celebrate the company's 100th birthday.

As part of lowe's birthday celebration, they announced the launch of their newest project- 100 hometowns.

Stafford " for our hundredth year anniversary we are investing $10 million into 100 community projects all across the country."

Country music star & chattanooga native, kane brown , who is also a former lowe's associate, is no stranger to giving back.

So it was no surprise that he was chosen to help kick off the nationwide community effort.

Brown " to come back to chattanooga is very humbling.

I already had tears today that i was back.

I miss seeing faces.

I feel like everybody in this town is what helped me make it."

Kane brown and lowe's will be making renovations and repairs that will help the east lake boys & girls club continue to be a 'home away from home' for local youth.

Morgan "we serve about 750 kids at this location.

This building was built in the early 90s so it wasn't built for how kids go to school today.

So what we are going to be doing is building a new library and computer lab.

Then we are going to build a new teen lounge where we do a lot of our college and career success activities."

Brown "i had it rough as a child so for me it's about giving these kids a place to go if their parents are at work or can't afford daycare or whatever.

It's cool for them to come in here and actually have nice things and not have everything torn apart or go somewhere where you don't feel clean, safe, or anything."

Nominations for the 100 hometowns initiative begins today and runs through april 19th at 11:59:59 pm et.

Participants should be prepared to share their hometown story and what their project means to them.

Brown " if you need it, i hope that you get it.

I'm just glad we get to help people.
