Ots video tape:right clearing the way <none> drivers are still being asked to stay off the road but for those who have to travel... road crews are trying to make the trip less hazardous.
L3: abc 36 news white clearing the way road crews continue to plow and de-ice roads road crews are treating and plowing statewide and say most of the highly-traveled routes are passable and they are making headway on the secondary routes.
However... roads in several areas.... especially in eastern and northeastern counties.... are treacherous.
Transportation officials say even those working to help clear the roads are finding it difficult to make it home.
L3: abc 36 news white jim gray transportation secretary we have had some employees in our northereastern counties who couldn't get to their homes and that's still the case, so we are hauling food and water out to the lawrence county maintenance facility to help those employees who have been cut off.
L3: abc 36 news white clearing the way road crews continue to plow and de-ice roads in addition to clearing the streets of snow and ice... road crews are also helping to clear downed trees along the roadways.
They are also getting help from the state division of forestry.
And the kentucky national guard.
The kentucky national guard is also providing welfare assistance in 14 counties.... going door-to-door to do wellness checks, taking people to warming stations and shelters and giving medical staff rides to their jobs.
