According to the most recent update from the city of athens - nearly 17-hundred customers are still without power.

Najahe, the central church of christ announced this morning that it would open its doors to anyone who needed a place to get warm or stay tonight.

While athen utilities works to restore service -- with the assistance of some crews from scottsboro...th e church is open as a warming station...david gallo -- the church's associate pastor says they can house about 50 people and have snacks and some cots available for those who are in need...the church opened at noon and gallo says people can come whenever.

We're gonna be doing it from this point all the way until the morning, so throughout the night and well be doing that .

Anytime they need to come in, it can be at two in the morning, it could be in the next 20 minutes, we'll be open for it."
