Brett Everson of the Utica College men's ice hockey team was named the UCHC Player of the Week, while the UC women swept the trio of conference awards for the first week of the season.

Of the pioneers men's team is garnering some honors for his play.

Senior forward brett everson was named the united collegiate hockey conference men's player of the week for the first week of the season - announced today.

Everson recorded a goal and two assists in the pioneers' exhibition opener against the united states under-17 national team - a 6-5 win.

Hisgh just two minutes remaining in the third period.

Everson and the pioneers open up conference play this weekend with a home-and-home against wilkes university on friday and saturday.

On the women's side - the pioneers cleaning up!

They swept the weeklywar for the u-c- h-c with carolyn whitney earning player of the week - carly stefanini getting rookie of the week and angela hawthorne nabbing goaltender of the week honors.

Whitney had a three- point night witha t castleton in the pioneers' 5-1 win on saturday.

Stefanini had a strong sh owing in her first collegiate games - scoring her first goal in friday's loss to castleton and then adding two more the following night in the win.

Hawthorne - also a freshman - stopped 26 of 27 shots faced against the spartans on saturday in her collegiate debut to earn thewino action at the aud on friday against manhattanville in their conference opener.
