What We Know About the Redesigned Air Force One

WASHINGTON — The presidential fleet is getting an upgrade with two modern Boeing 747s to serve as Air Force One.

Though former U.S. president Donald Trump changed the plane's color scheme and claims he shaved US$1.5 billion off the program's cost, the first president to fly in the planes will be Joe Biden.

According to the War Zone, the new jets are larger Boeing 747-8is that will feature more efficient next generation engines and have a range of 5,900 nautical miles.

The planes will lack some features of their predecessors, including inflight refueling, the result of cost-cutting efforts by the Air Force and Trump administration.
