Railway company slams ‘reckless’ TikTok

A U.K.-based railway company condemned a “reckless” TikTok filmed on one of its train lines.Network Rail was informed of a TikTok that showed a car parked in the middle of a set of tracks, along with a tripod to take photos.The video’s caption said, “Would you take the risk to take the photograph no one else would?”.Now the TikTok is being investigated by the British Transport Police.Network Rail identified the spot The Oaks level crossing at Bromley Cross in Bolton, England.“Trespassing on the railway is a crime, as is endangering the lives of rail users,” Phil James, the Network Rail’s North West route director, said in a statement.“Lives could so easily have been lost by this reckless behavior and we will be working closely with British Transport Police to make sure the person responsible for the video is brought to justice,” James added.Several Twitter users found the photographer on various social media platforms and, based on his posts, concluded he had taken the photo in 2018.In the U.K., trespassing on a railway can result in a £1000 (approximately $1,362 USD) fine and obstructing a train is punishable by up to two years in prison
