Well katie... tonight we're learning more about this letter sent to city leaders... flatly rejecting suggested changes to rochester's charter related to how the public library and park boards operate.

The letter... co?

"*authored by the leaders of both boards... doesn't specify what the suggested changes are... but park board president linnea archer tells me the changes would take away decision?

"* making power from these citizen?

"*run groups... instead granting them to the city council.

Archer says that would hinder each board's ability to respond quickly to issues and opportunities.

Additionally... she says the proposed changes would take away opportunities for regular people to get involved in local government... while not seeming to solve any existing "besides the fact that we're worried that it's taking away another opportunity for people to be involved in their community and make decisions in their community, we're a little confused as to what problems these are solving.

It seems like changes are being made with no driving force behind them."

And we're still working to understand rationale for these proposed changes and who exactly they were made by.

I've reached out to the charter commission's chair for comment but have yet to receive a response.

Live in rochester... anthony monzon... kimt news thank you anthony.

Archer says the charter commission will vote on these changes during their meeting on january 12th.

If they are passed by the commission... they'll be sent to city
