Retiring Successfully After Covid-19

The global pandemic has offset the plans of some to retire early.

Chris Jones from Edward Jones joins us to discuss points to consider if you still hope to retire early.

Edward jones c1 have your retirement plans changed because of covid-19?

Many say the pandemic has disrupted their intentions.

According to the four pillars of retirement, you may be questioning whether to retire early.

Joining us is chris jones.

Thank you for having me.

Even without a crisis.

It's not a bad idea to review our important live goals from time to time.

Thinking about this possibility of retirement, what should we consider if one is thinking of doing that?

These are all good questions, especially in a year like this when we had to deal with the covid-19.

In some ways it affected people's lives and jobs.

The things people should think about to see if they should re re retire early, to look at their lives.

Some people will want to travel and have expensive hobbies and i need a little more money for retirement.

That might be a consideration to work longer.

On the other hand, if people are saying they have enough money saved up and not a lot of expenses, they might want to retire early.

You might want to consider the sources of income.

When you retire, that means no more paycheck.

You must look at your 401 k if you have one.

An ira.

A pension plan and also want to think about your job and how you feel about your job.

Because some people didn't like their job before, maybe they have been promoted.

Some people are working from home.

Some people like it better.

Some people like it worse.

I think everybody has to do a self reflection to see where they stand.

That makes total sense.

Everybody has a different idea of what retirement is going to look like.

Some people have a lifestyle they are dreaming to living and others want a simple life.

Definitely considering those variables.

What are your goals?

If they're not static.

Can they change in response to any reason?

External and personnel?

Yes, i think everyone again has to do a self reflection.

People are living longer.

One of biggest fears of retirees, of the studies, women still outlive men.

People with expect to spend two to three decades in retirement.

You want to have ample sources of income to live the lifestyle from when you retire to mortality.

Thank you for being with us tonight thank you very much for having me jodie.
