Huntington police officer shot, suspect killed in early morning shooting after 'lengthy pursuit'

An early morning shooting Sunday resulted in one Huntington police officer being shot, and one adult male suspect being shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

Huntington police responded to a disturbance call at 3:35 this morning here on schultz drive.when officers arrived they say a man was driving a backhoe like machine and destroying public property.

He's concerned about the neighborhood's safety.

He says ever since the summer, he's noticed a large police presence on the block.

Houston "i figure if police are being called all the time something bad is going on."the indiana state police is not releasing the identities of the officers involved at this time.

The coroner will release the suspect's name following an autopsy.
