The Chattanooga Lookouts are breathing a sigh of relief after learning they have survived the minor league baseball cut.

GM Rich Mozingo reacts to the good news.

'cause lookouts baseball will be back.

The cincinnati reds invited the chattanooga lookouts to remain their double-a affilliate.

The lookouts future was up in the air since major league baseball took ownership of the minors, and starting cutting teams. but lookouts baseball has survived, and they'll play again next year after missing last season for covid.

Reporter:"what has it been like around here today?"

Mozingo:"today has been a great day around here.

Not like the rest of the days.

There's life in the ballpark."

Song:"thank god i'm a country boy" life at the ballpark after a dark cloud hovered over the lookouts for a year.

The club wasn't sure if they were on the chopping block when m-l-b took over the minors and threatened to drop several teams in a cost cutting measure.

Mozingo:"there was a lot of silence coming from the reds and a lot of silence coming from major league baseball.

That's just.

That was just to help negotiations move better along i'm sure rick.

It's a scenario where they didn't want to play this thing out in the press.

They didn't want to play this out in different markets."

Chattanooga has enjoyed minor league baseball since 1885.

Mozingo:"i think we are really a fabric of this community.

And whether it be baseball or special events or charity walks, you know things happen at lookouts stadium.

We hope to continue that tradition for many, many years to come."

The lookouts have been a long time member of the southern league, but g-m rich mozingo isn't sure what the league will feature in 2021.

Mozingo:"well we're still waiting to find out exactly what the leagues are going to look like in general, whether it be the southern league or the southeastern league or whatever.

The leagues have not been determined to the best of our knowledge at this point, but i think there's going to be some changes inside our league.

I think you are going to see a better product at all the levels to be very honest.

I think you're going to see some more kids that will come through faster.

So you might get a chance to see more prospects that come up through the system."

Reporter:"any word on when the season might start?"

Mozingo:"we're still waiting on major league baseball to see what they are going to do on the major league level.

I think they're fairly committed to getting started basically when they always start.

But whether they are going to have a combined spring training or a major league slash minor league spring training at different times.

I just don't
