Cottage Grove man arrested in 2004 Arkansas murder

Police said the murder was never classified as a cold case and agents remained hopeful the evidence would lead them to an arrest.

A cottage grove man is in custody tonight -- accused of murdering a woman-- 16 years ago-- in arkansas.

Kezi nine news reporter connor mccarthy is live in downtown cottage grove to explain how law enforcement ended their search, more than one thousand miles away.

Matt and renee-- residents i spoke with in the downtown area say they're shocked a cold case investigation lead authorities here.

Now the suspect isn't native to lane county-- but moved here from texas after allegedly murdering 22--year- old rebekah gould in arkansas.

Saturday night-- arkansas agents arrested 44 year- old william miller in cottage grove.

They made the arrest after he returned from an extended stay in the philippines.

Law enforcement have been working hundreds of hours on gould's murder they believe miller had a part in back in 2004.

Gould's body was discovered in hillside near a highway not long after she went missing.

Matt and renee-- miller is currently sitting in lane county jail-- waiting to be transferred back to arkansas.

He is facing a first degree murder charge there and a felony--fugitive from another state here in oregon.
