The Government said that, as of 9am on Tuesday, there had been a further21,330 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

It brings the totalnumber of cases in the UK to 762,542.

The Government also said a further 241people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19, as ofTuesday.

This brings the UK total to 43,967.

It is the highest daily figurereported since 258 deaths were reported on June 5 but there is often a delayin the reporting of deaths over a weekend.

Separate figures published by theUK’s statistics agencies show there have now been 59,000 deaths registered inthe UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
