Two inmates from different prisons have died in separate jackson hospitals.éé mississippi department of corrections says 66-year-old charles bates died friday at merit health central.éé bates was serving a 27 year sentence in rankin county for a child pornography and a sale of a controlled substance with an enhanced penalty in marion county.

éé bates had been in prison since aug 4, two thousand eight for the pornography crime and march 4, twenty ten for the drug charge.éé 44-year-old thaddeus antwon scales died thursday night at the university of mississippi medical center.

éé scales was serving a 10 year sentence in greene county for second-degree murder.

éé he was sentenced may 13, 2019 in marshall county.éé an autopsy will determine the official cause of death.éé due to covid-19 a tupelo theme park is adjusting its very popular fall festival.éé as our chad groening reports, it's working out very well.

éé there was a flurry of furry activity at the tupelo buffalo park and zoo.

And there was a pumpkin patch.

Every october the park puts on a fall festival.

You could come and pick out a pumpkin to take home.

And you could certainly interact with the animals.

Feeding the giraffe is a tall order.

And some folks got to ride a camel.

Dan franklin is co- owner along with his wife.

He says they've had a pumpkin patch here for fifteen years, but this is the first time they had it inside the zoo.

"we decided because of the covid that we would change things up so we could control the people better and to also make it safer for the people.

And we've also come to find out it's a whole lot more convenient because you not having to trade cars in and out and going from one place to the other to the pumpkin patch and back to the zoo so you can just come and park one time and you're done."

And because there are exotic animals at this theme park franklin has hired a support staff that includes veteran zoo keepers jason kelly and seth robertson.

"it's like having a little village as you go into work every day.

When owning a little village you pretty much have someone get sick one day.

The next day they're happy and going lucky so we just go with the flow minute by minute when we come into work.

It's really a blessing to work here because of these little guys we get to take care of."

Robertson trained to be a marine biologist before moving back home to mississippi.

"me being able to do this is actually a dream come true for me because the animals for me come first.

And that's kind of what i went to school for so being able to work with these animals in this type of a setting and animals that you don't normally see outside.

A lot of people have farm animals around here and these are alot more of the exotic type animals and that's what i specialize in."

As with every other business in northeast mississippi and around the country the folks here at the tupelo buffalo park and zoo have had to make adjustments of covid 19.

And this weekend things have worked out just fine.

"the attendance is actually about the same.

The difference is it surprises us we don't have any school groups this year.

And school groups are probably 60- percent of our business.

And without those school groups we're still running about the same as we did last year so we're very excited about that and very grateful for it."

And moving the pumpkin patch has really worked out well.

"we were a little nervous at first when we did it because usually we do it out in the pasture a very larger area, but due to covid and wanting to make sure our staff stays safe we tried it up here at the park this year.

So far it has been a real big hit.

We haven't had any complaints at all everybody loves it."

"actually it's worked out a lot for us because it is actually closer to all the animals and they actually do get to see these animals whereas before we use to have them further out into our pasture area where it was a little bit further so they kind of had to back and forth.

But being up here it's actually close.

The families are close they can pick their pumpkins up and actually play with their children as well as play with our animals."

President trump referenced a controversial story in the new york post, which published emails áallegedlyá taken from a laptop belonging to biden's son, hunter.

Cbs news has learned the f-b-i is investigating whether the information found on the laptop may be part of a russian disinformation campaign.

...something biden brought up when cbs news asked him to weigh in.

Mr biden what is your response to the ny post story about your son, sir?

I know you'd ask it.

I have no response, it's another smear campaign, right up your alley those are the questions you always ask.

Republicans are going after biden's running mate, too, which may have backfired on georgia senator david perdue.

"kamala, or kamala, kamala, mala, mala, mala, i don't know.

Whatever."

Senator kamala harris's press secretary tweeted "well that is incredibly racist."

While perdue's spokesperson said, "senator perdue simply mispronounced senator harris' name, and he didn't mean anything by it.
