A truck carrying 50,000 chicken eggs worth 400,000 Rupees (USD $5,437) overturned on a highway in northern India's Uttarakhand.

A truck carrying 50,000 chicken eggs worth 400,000 Rupees (USD $5,437) overturned on a highway in northern India's Uttarakhand.

The incident took place in Udham Singh Nagar near Bazpur on September 19.

Footage from the accident site shows locals flocking in to collect the eggs from the truck.

Police officers later intervened to disperse the crowd.

According to the driver Khalid Ali, a vehicle trying to overtake his mini-truck hit it accidentally and he lost control of the vehicle.

The truck swayed and overturned scattering most of the eggs.

The driver and his co-passenger have sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident.
